Type Locality and Naming

Along the Sairamsay River, Sumkar basin, southern slope of the Chatkal Range. S.V. Litovchak et al., 1985f.

Synonym: Sairamsay Suite, Сайрамская св.


Lithology and Thickness

The formation is divided into two parts. Lower (thickness of 50-100 to 400m) - gray and light-gray coarse-bedded limestones with weakly expressed micro-bedding, alternating with pelitomorphic and dolomitic limestones with clearly expressed micro-bedding. In places, intraformational breccias from fragments of darker dolomitic limestones are observed. Upper (thickness of 100-200m) - coarse-bedded micro-grained limestones with characteristic clotted structure. Thickness of the formation up to 600m.

Lower contact

Overlies conformably on Famennian limestones

Upper contact

is overlain conformably by limestones of the Dongusay Fm

Regional extent

Chatkal Range, Aktaush Mountains, interfluve of the Sumkar and Koksherek rivers; EchkiToo, right bank of the lower course of the Kassan River.
